On July 27th, 1998, Sommy Erekosima had an encounter in which Jesus Christ physically touched him on the face. He had an incredible experience just like that of the Apostles in Acts chapter two. It is the Ministry of the Holy Spirit to gather like-minded people together into one body for revival. It begins like a tongue of fire on one person and then spread to the birth of a Body of spirit-filled Christians. That was how GABO Ministry initially called Kalabari Prayer Network (KPN) began in August 2000.
For some time Sommy was having strong impression in his heart that a revival is necessary, particularly to address the people’s age-long allegiance to the Akaso deity as well as their obedience to the observance of idol tradition which goes contrary to Christian belief. He had a productive conversation with two other burdens, Deacon Tonjo Kio-Lawson and Henry Tobin-West which bothered on the declining spiritual state of the Kalabari kingdom. They expressed their concern about what should be done to change the narrative. As the conversation progressed, they reasoned that God was expressing His jealousy against the continual worship of Akaso by the Kalabari people and calling them to deliver the land.
We didn’t realize that God was not through with us yet. Suddenly, Pastor Henry Tobin-West gave a prophecy concerning the plan for the Body and who is to lead it. Pastor Tonjo Kio-Lawson and Pastor Noble Greene gave prophecy as well. All three said the same thing; “I the Lord have chosen Sommy Erekosima as my David to take the gospel throughout his Jerusalem and to other nations of the world.” I have prepared Him for he is my vessel to break strongholds Says the Lord.” So in the mouth of these three witnesses, the Word was confirmed.
That was how we decides to continue under the leadership that The Lord divinely chose, just in the same manner He chose Apostle Peter to lead the Disciples. It was on that beautiful note that the missionary journey of taking the gospel to the nations began.
